Dating entrepreneur sends out her message of romance and respect by teaming up with Dragons’ Den business DrivenMedia

Dating website entrepreneur Dennie Smith who set up her website a year ago has gone national by putting her message of romance and respect on the back of a lorry, styled by Dragons’ Den business Driven Media.

Dennie has teamed up with Driven Media founder Ed Hollands who has taken her message and put it on the back of a lorry which is now crisscrossing the country for the next 12 months.

She said: “Seeing my company in bold writing on the back of the lorry was a very special moment for me. I’ve worked so hard to make Old Style Dating a brand where single people can be confident they will be treated with respect and will meet people who are honest and looking for that special someone. This campaign spreads the word even further.”

Ed, who now has around 100 branded lorries and trucks travelling the length and breadth of the UK, said:

“We’re thrilled to be supporting Dennie and Old Style Dating. I was so lucky in my life to meet my wife while we were at school and we got married only this year. Many people are lonely or simply struggle to meet anyone who wants a serious relationship these days. I applaud Dennie’s efforts to create a modern method of finding love,” Ed said.

Ed, who appeared on Dragons’ Den last year and is supported by former Dragon Jenny Campbell, works with brands to advertise to motorists and commuters by spreading their messages onto the sides and backs of lorries, trucks and vans.

In 2018 he walked away with a £30,000 investment in exchange for a 20 percent share in his business. Dennie, who runs a successful hair salon in Selsdon near London, created a respectful online dating website promoting traditional values after seeing her own children struggle to find a committed partner through other online services or apps.

Dennie said that most people thought she was mad, they weren’t sure if it would be accepted in 2019.

“Setting up the online dating has been a challenge to say the least” said Dennie.

“I’m an avid fan of Dragons Den and I remember watching Ed’s pitch. I thought how young he looked but loved his idea and could see the way he believed in it too. I’ve been following his progress ever since.

“I dreamed of one day having my business advertised on the back of the truck and eventually I plucked up the courage to contact Ed and talk to him about it,” said Dennie.

It wasn’t plain sailing to get Dennie’s message out there.

Ed explained: “The first two haulers we tried rejected Dennie’s idea but I wasn’t going to give up. It was third time lucky. We then had the challenge of ensuring the design fitted around the truck doors. In the end we achieved our aim.”
