Enterprise App Pioneer Joins Business West Board

Business West has strengthened its governance as it announces a new non-executive director has joined its board.

Dr. Mark Mason, Founder and CEO of the UK’s leading Enterprise App Developer, Mubaloo, and Chairman of the Princes Trust South West Leadership Group, will bring his expertise in mobile, digital marketing and mentoring to Business West.

Stephen Roberson, Chairman of Business West said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark who brings with him powerful experiences in mobile and digital marketing. Mark’s insight and wisdom in the genesis and growth of modern businesses will have immediate relevance in the Business West board and in service of our members’ needs too. ”

Mark set up his first business, a marketing agency, in Bristol in 1990. Over the past 24 years, he has run, mentored and invested in a number of businesses in the South West area. In 2014, Mark was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor of Technology from UWE Bristol, in recognition of his contribution in the field of mobile technology and named Mentor of the Year at the Sparkies.

Mark’s current business, Mubaloo helps companies understand how mobile devices can significantly improve their business processes, marketing and communications. Recently, Mubaloo was ranked third in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 UK and 25th in EMEA, out of 500 companies. Over the past 18 months, Mubaloo has partnered with Cisco, EE, Samsung and Microsoft to help drive mobility innovation.

Dr Mark Mason said: “The influence of Business West is far reaching. I firmly believe in the importance of the leadership and business support role that it plays at a local, regional, national and indeed international level.

Phil Smith, Managing Director of Business West, said: “The calibre of this appointment is impressive, demonstrating the important role that Business West plays to provide leadership and business support.

“Business West serves a large number of diverse members and companies so it is important our board attracts business people from a wide range of backgrounds, to better understand the needs of these businesses.

“Our Board of Directors is made up of unpaid volunteers, giving freely of their time and business expertise and we greatly value their help in the development of Business West.”
