Your Total Guide To business
October Talk With Gaynor Page From Topikki
Today we're talking to Gaynor Page who is the owner and designer at Topikki, offering handcrafted Wedding and Special Occasion stationery, covering Bristol and the South West.
What’s coming up for your business/organisation in Q4?
Some reorganisation of the Portfolios with some new additions, and some new items going into the e-shop by November.
Are you doing anything in October for charity or for a community or volunteer project?
Not Specifically other than occasional posts on FB/IG.
October 10 is World Mental Health Day – how important is this subject in your business and in your life?
I often post on Social Media about ‘Wedding Wellbeing’ Organising a wedding can be quite a stressful process and I post mindfulness and wellbeing quotes to help couples through the process. A couple of key elements to alleviating stress at this time are: Be organised; remember why you’re doing this; smile in the face of it; enlist help (only to someone you trust!); and take time away from it for just the two of you.
What practical activities do you participate in at home or at work to protect your mental health and that of your staff?
There is only me in my business so I don’t have staff to worry about, but for myself I try to get out in the fresh air and walk for at least 30 minutes a day. I also try to take short breaks at regular intervals. Having a routine helps but at the same time not being too rigid with your routine, is also important; staying a little flexible is important but don’t allow poor time management to creep in or other people to impose on your time.
Clocks go back this month – an extra hour in bed? How do you feel about the darker nights etc?
Darker evenings impact on my work as much of it needs daylight for colour and accuracy, so working hours, creatively are shortened. Couples should be aware of this when booking a bespoke service as, samples and final make-up, could take longer to produce.
Have you got any events planned you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
Wedding fayres are in full swing at the moment, but as may of you may know the Wedding Fayre at Bristol Zoo Gardens on 10th October, will be the last one ever as the Zoo closes and moves to The Wild Place opposite Bristol Golf Club, off Cribbs Causeway, near to Easter Compton.
Have you got any services or special offers you'd like to mention?
Special Offers for the Autumn (1st October to 31st December) Free Place Cards with all confirmed Orders (must include Day invitations).
And finally...
Its really lovely to be meeting couples again after the restrictions of the past 18 months or so. Meeting them gives me a feel for their stationery and helps me to fulfil my mission statement; that I aim for their stationery to reflect their personalities and/or lifestyle.
I am also in the process of writing an e-book, to help Wedding couples with their well-being and focus through their wedding planning and help in how to choose their suppliers. Hoping to launch in the Spring of ’22.
