Milsted Langdon Hosts Talks on UK In and Out of Europe

Award-winning chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon delivered the last of its EU – In or Out seminars on the potential impact of Britain remaining in the EU - or leaving it - at Bristol’s Clifton Pavilion on 24 May.

They firm held the free seminars in each week of May in the city and in Bath, Taunton and Yeovil. They offered local business leaders and professional service providers access to impartial advice from Milsted Langdon’s Consultant Economist Kevin Butler on how an exit from Europe might affect the South West - and the UK.

The firm also hosted a dinner on HMS Belfast in London on 5 May, which was attended by business leaders, a trade commissioner and other influential professionals eager to learn more about the potential impact of a withdrawal from the EU on the capital’s commerce, and what remaining in Europe might mean for it in the future.

Kevin Butler hosted each EU Referendum: Myths, Legends, Opinions and Facts presentation and discussion on the carefully examined pros and cons for businesses of remaining in the EU or seceding from Brussels.

His Bank of England work has forged strong links with London and the South West and given him an unmatched finance analysis pedigree, and they combine to qualify him to judge critically how economic and business factors are likely to alter if Britain’s EU status changes.

All five EU – In or Out events were attended by up to 50 delegates from a range of sectors who participated in intense and diverse discussion on their immediate and long term concerns over the EU conundrum.

‘Raised hand’ polls at every seminar pointed to a significant majority of delegates planning to vote for Britain to remain in the EU, with very few expressing a desire for the country to leave.

Kevin commented: “I am delighted that my seminars have been so well attended and received.

“The business owners, SME managers, traders, Milsted Langdon clients and other professionals I encountered in the South West and London brought a wealth of knowledge and insight to the events, to which I hope to add – and from which Milsted Langdon and I will also benefit.

“I believe my pre-referendum presentations have raised the understanding of the potential impact of either outcome of the referendum and will assist those who attended in making a clear and informed voting decision on 23 June.”
