Your Total Guide To business

TV presenter and businessman Paul Martin named as keynote speaker at women’s business conference

TV presenter and businessman Paul Martin has been announced as the keynote speaker at the sixth annual Maximise Conference celebrating women in business from the South West and beyond.

Maximise takes place in on Wednesday December 5 in Cheltenham and is open to anyone in business across the region who wants to meet and mix with some of the leading female entrepreneurs in the region.

Organiser Angela De Souza said: “We are thrilled Paul has agreed to be our guest speaker and tell us about his tv career past and present and also share stories about the days when he had his own shop – and his plans for his new gallery, opening soon, which will showcase antiques, art and sculpture.”

Paul, who lives with his family in Wiltshire, has for 18 years been the lead presenter on the BBC day-time show Flog It! which ends in 2019.  He is also a regular presenter on Countryfile Diaries and he is also leading a new antiques show Make Me A Dealer which is on our screens for the first time this month (November 2018).

In this series, Paul advises and guides contributors about being a real-life dealer and they are challenged – using their own money – to choose items for sale at the right price and then try to sell them on at a profit.

Paul said: “I’m humbled to be asked to talk at the Maximise conference to a group of inspirational business people from all walks of life. I hope they find me and my story of interest and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.

“During the years I’ve been on the television, the people have always been the stand-out memory. Everyone has a story, every object has a story and that’s what I love about the life I lead.”

Paul’s talk The Business of Show will be a highlight of Maximise 2018 which is an established annual event for members of the Womens’ Business Club movement. With sixteen clubs across the country, members gather to meet in person as well as meeting other company directors who are taking the day out for some quality business building and networking.

The conference takes place at Cheltenham’s historic Pittville Pump Room on Wednesday, December 5 and the main sponsor is Jelf, expert insurance brokers.

Angela said: “Maximise is a fantastic opportunity to connect and spend the day focusing at working on your business and not in it. We have some really exciting sessions set up, such as speed networking, Dragoness Den, the Author Hub, our fashion show, inspirational talks and the grand finale the Business Woman of the Year awards and Paul has kindly agreed to present the awards.”

The conference takes place at Cheltenham’s historic Pittville Pump Room on Wednesday, December 5 from 9.30am to 4.30pm, with the Women’s Business Awards ceremony rounding off the day.

Paul Martin will deliver his keynote talk at 3pm. While the awards are open to Women’s Business Club members only, anyone is welcome to attend Maximise and participate in all other events.

Exhibitors are also welcome, with stands available from just £250 (exc. VAT) and payment plans on offer to help smaller businesses. Tickets to attend Maximise are £45 (plus fees).
