Your Total Guide To business
Test Out the Latest in Greener Travel Technology at Leigh Court
After the West of England's success in becoming an Ultra Low City winner earlier this year and securing £7million from government to improve the take up of low emission vehicles, Bristol will now become the second city to host a GreenFleet Car and Plug-In Technology event in 2016.
This free event will be taking place at Leigh Court, Abbots Leigh, Bristol BS8 3RA from 8.30am - 4pm on Friday 20th May. Business and employers will have the opportunity to test drive the latest electric and low emission vehicles such as the BMW i3, the Nissan LEAF and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
GreenFleet West is being held in association with the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) and Bristol City Council, along with Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils and Business West.
Industry experts will present keynote presentations on the day, highlighting the collaborative vision for a greener region, plus the latest on car, van and charging grants. Attendees will also get the chance to hear from Nina Skubala, Initiative Manager at Business West, who will give an update on the latest business involvement and all the benefits and rationale for business and employers in embracing low emission travel.
Commenting, James Durie, Chief Executive of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Initiative, part of Business West, said:
“After our hugely successful year as European Green Capital in 2015, it certainly doesn’t stop there and is vital that we push forward and continue to drive behaviour change and shift to much greener travel options. This event gives business and employers of any size the chance to hear about and the chance to experience the latest electric and low emission vehicles available.
The £7 million we secured earlier this year from central government to boost the number of Ultra Low Emission Vehicles provides a fantastic opportunity for the city to become an international ambassador for ultra-low emission vehicles & travel. This event gives businesses the perfect chance to embrace this change, by talking to the experts and testing out the technology first hand.
“Bristol is the most successful economy outside of London, but is also known for chronic congestion and poor air quality. We have a determination to create a low carbon city with a high quality of life for all. As part of this we need to see more businesses turn to sustainable ways of working and travelling so that we can transform people’s quality of life and build a stronger, more resilient economy. It just makes business sense financially & environmentally to do so.”
