Your Total Guide To business

TGt Meets... Annie Green - IWD Special

To celebrate International Women's Day we've been speaking to local inspirational women. In this edition, we talk to Annie Green, Occupation Events Manager at Field Good Bar about why this day is so important...

Name: Annie Green

Age: 47

Location: Bath

Occupation: Events Manager

Which woman would you compare yourself to?

I dont compare myself to anyone else we are all individual with elements from our experiences and people we meet. I wouldn't know where to start to compare.

What’s great about being a woman in business?

Women are creators and being able to manifest events and successfully achieve goals is what is great about being a woman and being in business.

Do you think it's important to have an International Women's Day?

Honestly I think we should all be celebrated all the time but it does remind us how important women are and how far we have come.

How do you maintain a work/life balance?

It's not easy and I am told off for being on my phone as much as the kids... Working for yourself means it's not always right and the balance may not always be there. However I am a happier person for it and this reflects on my kids.. They are happy and confident that's my aim. Society asks alot.. Working and having kids for men and women can be tough, just have to keep going.

Have you ever had to give up or miss out on anything in order to pursue your career?

Yes we all miss out because if work! But overall I do try to fit in personal achievements as well as work..

Do you ever experience any discrimination in the work place because of your gender?

I have of course its rife.. People are more aware but still. Too much happens and even more we don't know about, there is a long way to go but it's getting better too. Slow progress I think sometimes and a lot of confusion. More education is needed.

What advice / tip would you pass on to the next generation of women in Business?

Dont give up.. Its a tough world.. You won't always like. It and it won't always like you. You will get things wrong and that's OK because you will also get things really right. Despite our digital excellence we are only human. Give yourself a break at times, take that day off when you need it.

Do men ever feel intimidated by your success?

No I don't think so.. Most of the men I know are really lovely and work alongside me. If someone did I probably wouldn't notice.

If you could have dinner with 5 inspirational women dead or alive, who would they be?

Marlyn Monroe, Florence Nightingale, Pocahontas, Amy Winehouse, Boudica.

As a successful female, where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

On a beach or in the mountains maybe with or without money.. But happy... I will have tried my best.
