Which? reveals the top ten products of the year for 2019

Consumer organisation Which? has revealed its top ten products of 2019. It describes them as the most innovative, economical and exceptional products researched by their experts.

The products are those which were launched – and subsequently tested – between September 2018 and September 2019.

Coming in at Number 10: A fridge freezer – the LG (GBB92STAXP) at £999

The experts said they’d never seen a fridge freezer which was both powerful and efficient. They felt this model is ‘a fitting end to a decade where the refrigeration industry as a whole has made outstanding progress in energy efficiency’.

Number 9: The Realme 3 Pro mobile phone at £165

This mobile phone got more votes from experts than any other. It ‘looks the part and has an eye catching list of specifications’ and is impressive when it comes to speed and battery life.

Number 8: The Apple iPad Pro 11-inch - £769

One of the more expensive tablets however it redefines what a tablet can do. It has a high refresh rate, produces colours to a very high standard and can replace your laptop.

Number 7: Apple AirPods (2019) - £159

These are the standard version of Apple’s wireless headphones (not the AirPods Pro which arrived too late to be considered this time round). They impressed with their sound quality for such a small item.

Number 6: rCup Leakproof Travel Cup - £12

The world’s first reusable cup made from recycled paper cups and it impressed the judges for its ease of use.

Number 5:  Amazon Kindle 2019 - £70

While it may be easy to overlook product that has been part of our lives for so long., this most basic version of the Kindle now comes with a set of LED lights built into the screen to make it legible at night without needing a torch or a lamp, a feature that was previously only available on more expensive versions.

Number 4:  Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones - £249

Good noise-cancelling headphones are not cheap. These are industry-leading and they impressed the judges.

Number 3: Ikea Malfors (002.774.23) mattress - £99 for a double

Impressed the judges for its spinal support even though it’s a cheap option. It performed well in durability tests including running a barrel over the mattress thousands of times to simulate ten years of use.

Number 2: Sony SRS-XB01 speaker - £20

A tiny speaker which packs a loud punch. This product achieves a clear sound from a tiny Bluetooth speaker as well as being very affordable. It enhances the bass, is easy to use and is splash resistant.

Number 1: Hyundai Kona electric car – from £35,100

Judges believe this car is one of the strongest cases for people to make the switch to an emissions-free vehicle. It impressed in driving range tests, managing 233 miles on a single charge (some rivals managed just 124 miles). To get more miles out an electric vehicle, consumers would have to opt for another model of car like the Tesla for around £7,000 more.

Please note all prices here are correct as of October 2019. Which? actually ranked the top 50 items in all. We’ve looked at the top ten only here.
