Birthday presents for when you're stuck for ideas

It's hard to find the perfect birthday present. You might be an expert at gift giving, but those magic moments with friends and family are just too fleeting to start stressing over a present. You need an idea that will give them joy and make them happy without you having to break the bank. That's where these ideas come in - they provide unique solutions for this problem.

1. Let them choose

There's nothing better than letting someone pick out their own birthday present. Whether it's a piece of jewellery, a pyjama set or something else, it'll be unique and personal to them. There's no better feeling than knowing that you have given them something they will treasure throughout their lives, but for many people, the cost of that item is prohibitive. This might not be possible for everyone but if budget is an issue, why not let them pick out the present themselves?

2. Bouquet of Flowers

Don't underestimate the power of flowers. It isn't just women who enjoy receiving them, we all love getting a bunch of birthday flowers, or at any other time of the year. You can find lots of bouquets on the internet nowadays and they come in custom sizes and shapes. This is a lovely gift for anyone and it doesn't even need to be significant - it works well for friends, family members and especially partners.

3. A Birthday Cake

Everyone loves birthday cake and it's a great way to make someone feel special and unique. If you know someone is obsessed with candles and all things 'fairy tale', you could find them a special cake decorated with fairies and castles for a surprise.

4. A handmade gift

A handmade gift is unique. Whether you knit a hat and scarf, crochet a blanket or just make a photo frame, it is the thought that counts. This gift is better for people who know you well and you have some idea of the interests they have. Maybe their car could use a new pair of floor mats, or maybe you could help them out by making them something to eat at work.

5. Family portrait

If the birthday person is someone close to home or someone who is important to your family, why not get a family portrait? You can sit down with all the older members of your family and take photos together. Everyone will be happy to see the results and this makes for a great memento to keep around for years to come.

6. A guidebook

If the person you are buying for loves travel, why not buy them a guidebook? This can work really well if they love animals too, as there are so many different trips you can do with your loved ones that use all manner of animals (zoos and safari parks being popular).

There are some great birthday presents out there and if you think about them ahead of time, you could avoid being caught out. Always remember that the most important thing is to enjoy the moment and enjoy the person in front of you. The best presents come from the heart, and they don't need to cost a small fortune either.
