Watersports centre and Lido planned in Bristol Harbourside revamp

Bristol’s harbourside could soon feature a new watersports centre and lido, as part of the city’s Harbour Place Shaping Strategy (HPSS).

The proposals, currently under consultation until 4 November, aim to rejuvenate the area, making it a key destination.

The plans include introducing commuter ferries, new moorings, and transforming Wapping Wharf into a vibrant cultural hub.

The report suggests closing Prince Street Bridge to traffic, adding ferry services, and creating moorings for historic ships.

Baltic Wharf is earmarked for the watersports centre, while Underfall Yard and Avon Quay will see upgrades to support harbour-related industries.

Andrew Brown, chair of the Harbour Committee, said, “We want to create a strategy that will encourage residents, businesses, and our communities to work together to rejuvenate our historic harbourside.”

The council’s long-term vision includes over 100 potential projects to boost the harbour over the next 20 years.
