Award winning organic shop and café group, Better Food, announces upcoming opening of its fourth shop on Gloucester Road, Bristol

Recent winner of the prestigious BOOM award for Best Independent Retailer (The Best of Organic Market Awards), Better Food has announced it will be opening its fourth shop on Gloucester Road in Bristol at the beginning of November.

The 2,900 sq ft space will stock some of the best organic, local and ethical brands available, as well as organic fruit and vegetables, a huge range of organic food refills, chilled foods, locally sourced meat, fresh bread, bodycare and household refills, gifts and more. Better Food is well known for stocking a huge range of food for those with specific diets in mind, including vegan or dairy free, gluten free or coeliac; and the Gloucester Road shop is no exception.

The new shop will also include a café and food hall, selling hot drinks, self-serve soups and porridge, freshly baked cakes and pastries, salads, juices and smoothies, cooked lunches and a wide range of deli specialities to take away. The perfect place for friends and families to meet.

To welcome customers to the Gloucester Road shop, Better Food will give a free goody bag to its first 50 customers on opening day, containing a copy of Founder, Phil Haughton’s book Food For Thought, and other goodies. Plus, the next 300 customers will get a free organic tote bag to use for their shopping. In addition, customers will receive a free organic barista coffee (or tea) if they download or show Better Food’s Bee Better refill rewards app in the shop in the first month.

Phil Haughton, Founder of Better Food, says: “After another successful partnership with Triodos Bank to raise capital for our new shop on Gloucester Road, we are delighted to see our plans come to fruition. We’re really looking forward to getting to know the local residents and businesses, and hope that Better Food becomes a welcome addition to the collection of eclectic shops on one of Bristol’s most interesting streets.”

Each Better Food shop supports a local charity or community cause through its Better Giving initiative. Upon opening, the Gloucester Road team will share a shortlist of great local causes. Customers will then be able to vote to decide which one receives fundraising support, with a budget of £1,000 over one year. In addition, the new Gloucester Road shop plans to donate 10% of all of its sales on opening day to Bishop Road School PTFA.

Better Food, whose ethos is focused on building a sustainable, better, and fairer food community, offers the largest range of organic and local food in the UK. As the first certified organic café in Bristol, Better Food, which was started over 25 years ago, prides itself in providing the best fresh,

organic produce available, and a friendly and caring shopping experience. All fruit and vegetables are organic or agro-ecologically grown and more than half of all suppliers are within 50 miles of Bristol.
