Belle & Sebastian will now appear on Bristol’s Harbourside on Wednesday 13 July 2022, and Nile Rogers and CHIC will now take to the stage on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 July 2022.
2021 marks 25 years since Belle and Sebastian released their debut album Tigermilk sparking a cult-like following around the world. 2022 will see the band bring their majestic alternative pop to Bristol for the first time since playing to a sold-out crowd at Bristol Beacon in 2015.
Known for their armoury of timeless hits and incredible live performances, CHIC’s two shows in the stunning 5,000-capacity outdoor setting are not to be missed. Existing ticket holders will be contacted directly and tickets remain valid for the new dates.
Bristol Beacon artistic director, Todd Wills said:
“We know that ticket holders and music fans are eager to return to live music events as soon as its safe, so we know that many will be disappointed that Nile Rogers and CHIC and Belle & Sebastian won’t be gracing the Bristol Harbourside this summer. We want to ensure that these shows can go ahead exactly as intended, and with 21st June being the very earliest that large-scale events can take place according to the government’s roadmap, there is little time to guarantee we can make this happen.
We’ve been working with the artists to secure new dates for these events, and we are really happy that we can still bring these musical icons to Bristol next summer.”
Bristol Beacon has previously programmed sell-out summer gigs on Bristol’s Harbourside, featuring the likes of Goldie and the Heritage Orchestra, The Outlook Orchestra, Jimmy Cliff and Grandmaster Flash as well as New Order and The Specials.
Coming onto the scene in the late 1970’s, Nile Rodgers and Chic reshaped the music scene with a raft of massive releases including Dance, Dance, Dance, Good Times and Le Freak, which spent five weeks on top of the charts in 1978. Their revolutionary sound has influenced countless artists, with Nile Rodgers going on to produce for some of the world's biggest stars including David Bowie, Diana Ross and Madonna. In more recent times, Rodgers' collaborations with Daft Punk, Avicii, Sigala, Disclosure, and Sam Smith show the ensemble remain at the forefront of contemporary music.
Tickets for Nile Rogers and CHIC and Belle & Sebastian and are available from the Bristol Beacon Box Office on 0117 203 4040 or by visiting https://bristolbeacon.org.
