REVIEW: Christmas at Stourhead

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Christmas at Stourhead, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! As a National Trust site, Stourhead’s festive light trail is a must-see this holiday season, and I couldn’t have been more impressed.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who were so welcoming and made parking a breeze by guiding me safely into the venue.

The first entrance was buzzing with vendors offering a delightful array of food – from savoury Greek dishes to sweet churros, it was hard to choose! I opted for a churro cone with chocolate sauce, continuing towards the trail, there’s a second stop decorated with mini lanterns and benches. Here, I selected a jumbo sausage roll, from the quaint food vendor, which was served warm.

As I entered the trail, I was immediately struck by the first dazzling light show, with spheres of light changing colours, all stemming from a beautifully lit tower. But the showstopper was the Cathedral of Light. The display was breathtaking, and it was clear why so many visitors were stopping to snap photos – it was truly a fan favourite.

The light trail was full of surprises, with unique displays like floating feathers and electrified trees that added to the magical atmosphere. The variety of lights and installations kept me in awe as I strolled along the path, taking in each new display.

What I really appreciated were the benches and larger seating areas dotted throughout the trail. These spots were perfect for taking a rest, enjoying some festive snacks, or sipping on mulled wine from one of the kiosks. It was the perfect blend of magic and relaxation.

When exiting the trail and being back at the first entry point, I popped into their shop where I found all the wintery products I could need. This was a great opportunity to find a unique Christmas gift like a cosy scarf or beautiful baubles. Alternatively, they offer a range of homeware and gardening accessories like potted plants and bird houses.

Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or for a romantic date night, Christmas at Stourhead offers something for everyone. This enchanting trail is truly one of the best ways to embrace the holiday spirit.

I highly recommend booking your tickets now through Stourhead’s website – you won’t want to miss this festive wonderland!
