Your Total Guide To entertainment

Watch out, Bristol - By Order of The Peaky Blinders!

The decree has been issued, and you will have fun – by order of The Peaky Blinders. Motion in Bristol will host an immersive themed experience based on the hit TV series – Peaky Blinders.

So get set to be sharply dressed on Saturday, May 19th, as the suited and booted Midlands-based mobsters are heading for the city. According to the Bristol Post, this tribute show will feature professional actors and have you at the centre of the action.

Peaky Blinders has been an amazing hit. It started on TV screens but has extended the narrative into a wide range of live and digital experiences. The story is about a criminal gang led by Thomas Shelby – played by Cillian Murphy. The gang are ruthless in their acquisition and retention of turf, using razor blades sewn into the peaks of their caps to exert additional influence. The show created a cult-like following who adored the grit, glamour and hedonism. Most of it unlawful, all of it beautifully shot and told.

The Peaky Blinders night at Motion will replicate the dark and moody atmosphere and pay homage to the storylines. Visitors to Motion on the night are promised 'secret corners, gambling dens, moonshine and fortune tellers'. This immersive experience will 'blur the lines between performance and audience'.

The evening will have professional actors playing key roles. Attendees must dress for the part in 1920s costume. So get your flat caps and pocket watches ready. Don your flapper dresses and strings of beads; this is going to be one hell of a party. A live band and Charleston dancers are on the bill. In addition, a feast fit for the Shelbys will be served – expect newspaper-wrapped fish and chips and slow-braised beef with lashings of gravy. There will be plenty of 'bootleg' booze to wash it all down.

Tickets cost £20 (plus a booking fee) and are available at motion.bristol.com.

Then on May 23rd, Rambert Dance's The Redemption of Thomas Shelby is coming to The Hippodrome for seven performances. The dance show has been written and adapted for the stage by Stephen Knight and, according to the Guardian, it is 'full of swagger and attitude'.

Peaky Blinders may have started out as a TV show, but it has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon with spin-off live shows, events and games adopting the franchise in all genres. In addition, there is a full-length movie in production and promised for the not-too-distant future.

Peaky Blinders: The King's Ransom VR game is now available on Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4. The stars of the show, Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson, have reprised their roles to induct you into their gang. It is a narrative-driven game with an original story written in collaboration with the series creator and producer. For gamers who like the chance to win some cash with their gaming, an official Peaky Blinders slot game is also available at popular casino bonus sites like Casushi and Duelz.

If you cannot get to Motion or the Hippodrome, there are plenty of other ways to get a real Peaky Blinders experience. However, unlike the game options, they will require travel outside of the Southwest.

Much of the TV series was shot at The Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, West Midlands. The living museum is a great place to visit whether you are a Peaky Blinders fan or not. However, they do run Peaky Blinders nights at the museum on a regular basis. So you can enjoy a pint at The Garrison Pub and eat fish and chips at Hobbs and Sons. No surprises, you will get to participate in the raucous nightlife too. You are invited to don your flat cap and stroll around the museum's streets.

Camden Town, London, offers a fully immersive theatrical Peaky Blinders experience. Called The Plan, this experience invites you to step inside a beautifully realised two-hour production which includes many original props and scenery from the TV show.
