World’s biggest charity gaming event kicks off two weeks of fundraising

Bristol-based gaming company, The Yogscast has once again launched its annual charity fundraising event, Jingle Jam.

The live streaming event is now the world’s largest charity gaming event and has raised over £13 million for charity since its inception in 2011.

Since 2017, Jingle Jam has supported Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, raising over £850,000 to support sick children, families and staff at Bristol Children’s Hospital and its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s Hospital.

Jingle Jam is a 14-day live-streaming event, which this year will take place from 5pm on 1 December to 14 December. The event is viewed around the world, regularly attracting 250,000 unique viewers to the live programme of game-related Christmas camaraderie.

During the event, the team release specially curated games bundles, available to purchase with all proceeds going to charity. At the checkout, the purchaser can decide how much they wish to donate, with a minimum donation of £25, and which charity to support.

This year’s games bundle includes over 35 PC games and add-on content worth over £400 and will be exclusively available through Tiltify. Full details can be found at https://jinglejam.tiltify.com/

Lewis Brindley, co-founder of The Yogscast and JingleJam, commented: “Every year in December, we turn our focus to raising as much money as possible for amazing charities, like The Grand Appeal. The gaming industry comes together for the JingleJam to help create incredible games bundles to encourage gamers to dig deep and donate.

“We’ve been working with The Grand Appeal since 2017 and its amazing for us to be able to make a difference to the lives of sick children that are on our doorstep, here in Bristol. We want 2020 to be bigger than ever, and to do this we need everyone’s help in spreading the word. The more people that hear about Jingle Jam – the more we can raise.”

Sarah McBride, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, commented: “Jingle Jam is a huge highlight in our fundraising calendar, thanks to our long-standing partnership with the guys at The Yogscast. Every year we are astounded by the generosity of the gaming community and this year, given the challenges we have faced will be even sweeter.

“We are now working with the Jingle Jam team to hit our target of £2 million over the next few years To do so, we need your help - so treat yourself or a loved one this December to an incredible games bundle at amazing value, while supporting critically ill and sick children in our region by selecting The Grand Appeal at the checkout.”

As the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, The Grand Appeal funds ground-breaking medical equipment, three family accommodation houses, 20 specialist support staff and a programme of art, music and play in partnership with the hospital and its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital.
