Uphill Sands
Location: Weston Super-Mare
About: Uphill is a small village at the southern end of Weston's promenade, and it's a great day out if you don't fancy the hustle and bustle of the main seafront. Its wide, open beach is hugely popular with dog walkers and is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Layde Bay & Clevedon Seafront
Location: Clevedon
About: Ladye Bay is a secluded, rocky beach. If you head up the steps from the beach which lead to the main road, there's a small wooded path which takes you past the Wellington Park Hotel to the main part of Clevedon seafront.
You'll get some stunning views of the estuary as you make your way along it, but make sure you're wearing sensible shoes, as it can get a little muddy.

Burnham, Berrow & Brean
Location: Burnham
About: All three of these Somerset beaches can be enjoyed independently, but if you're looking for a serious beach adventure then this is the place to go. The beach from Burnham up to Berrow and Brean is seven miles long, making it the second longest stretch of continuous sand in Europe.

Kilve Beach
Location: Bridgewater
About: The beach of Kilve lies about halfway between Minehead and Bridgwater in the heart of the Quantocks. The shoreline is mostly rocky with plenty of rockpools for the kids to explore towards low tide. After you've made your discoveries and had fun on the beach, you can enjoy a picnic on the large grassy area behind the beach.

About: The Sand Point peninsula stretches out into the channel and offers panoramic views towards Flat Holm Island, South Wales, Clevedon and the Severn Bridge. Sand Bay, meanwhile, is perfect for a great run-around if your four-legged companions have some energy to burn.
