The National Trust is fantastic for the community; preserving all those beautiful old buildings, gardens and estates for the public to see. Luckily, there are hundreds of NT properties all around the UK. But where are the ones in and around Bristol located? We'll reveal all...

1. Tyntesfield
Tynetesfield is definitely the best all-round National Trust property and estate in the Bristol area. With a stunning house which offers guided tours, formal and informal gardens and extensive woodland walks, Tyntesfield is a definite day out rather than just a quick afternoon visit. It's Victorian Gothic exterior has a lot of history behind it which you can learn whilst you're there. Don't forget to have a look in the National Trust shop and enjoy hot or cold food in the cafe. 2. Leigh Woods
Leigh Woods is a stone-throw away from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, so it offers fabulous views all over the bridge and Bristol. The pathways will lead you through the beautiful ash forest, which are a haven for seasonal flowers such as bluebells. Though there is no property, it means you can explore the woodland in so much more detail, perhaps cross the Clifton Suspension Bridge and take your dog everywhere too! 3. Blaise Hamlet
Blaise Hamlet is a very peaceful and relaxing afternoon out away from all the hustle and bustle of Bristol city centre. Featuring nine rustic cottages around a green, you feel as if you could have stepped back in time. The charming cottages are incredibly photogenic in all seasons, so it's definitely worth bringing a camera along! 4. Clevedon Court
Although 12 miles out of the centre of Bristol, Clevedon Court is well worth a visit with it's outstanding 14th century manor house and 18th-century terraced garden. Home to the lords of the manor of Clevedon for centuries, the core of the house is a remarkable survival from the medieval period. 5. Cheddar Gorge
Although Cheddar Gorge is 15 miles south of Bristol, it is definitely worth the short drive. As one of England's most iconic and spectacular landscapes, it attracts visitors all over the UK. At almost 400 feet deep and three miles long, this is England’s largest gorge, and with its weathered crags and pinnacles, one of the National Trust's most spectacular natural sights.
