Rare James Bond 2KG Gold Coin Up For Grabs!

The Britannia Coin Company celebrates its first anniversary with a rare coin raffle.

Businessman Jon White is raffling off a 2KG rare James Bond-themed gold coin, worth at least £175,000, to celebrate the first anniversary of his new venture The Britannia Coin Company.

Already well known for running Old Bank Antiques in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire and for being an experienced and ethical dealer in gold and precious metals, Jon made the decision to create a coin-specific company a year ago and has used lockdown to bring his latest enterprise to life.

“Coins evoke such emotion with people,” Jon said. “I’ve dealt with coins throughout my years in business and have gained a lot of knowledge. It was the perfect time to launch a coin specific company and what better way to do it than to raffle one of the rarest modern coins in the world.”

The coin is the first of only seven made by the Royal Mint to celebrate James Bond and it weighs 2 kgs. It cost £147,950 at time of purchase and its value has already risen to around £175K due to its scarcity. This coin is already purchased and being held securely at a secret location (not the Wiltshire antiques centre!).

There are a maximum of 50,000 £5 raffle tickets on offer and a donation to charity of ten per cent (to a maximum of £25,000) will be made once the raffle is over. The charity which will receive the donation will be chosen in due course.

“To celebrate the first anniversary of the Britannia Coin Company, the coin is being raffled for £5 a ticket from the date of launch (Tuesday 21 September). The raffle will run for seven months. If the maximum ticket allocation is sold before the closing date, entrants will be notified that the draw will take place earlier,”Jon said.

Tickets are already on sale and anyone can purchase them online. The raffle will run until midnight on 30 April 2022 subject to maximum ticket sales. A winner will be chosen randomly on 2 May 2022.

“The draw will be live streamed on our Facebook page and overseen by an independent judge to ensure it’s fair and truly random,” Jon said.

“It really could be anyone anywhere in the world! The winning person will be invited to collect the coin from our premises, or have it securely shipped.”
