The race started and finished in Bristol's historic Harbourside. The scenic, sea-level route took runners past the Harbourside, out and back along the Portway, through the stunning Avon Gorge, and pass twice under Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, along Cumberland Road then around the old city before a return to Anchor Road.
The course was a point-to-point loop, so lead runners did not lap slower participants, which meant that those who didn't have the same pace didn't lose morale and the motivation to carry on.. The Portway section at the beginning of the course spread runners out early in the race. A narrow Start area and the 2 wave start which were also designed to reduce congestion. The 13.1 mile route includes the Clifton Suspension Bridge on two occasions, a scenic route through Avon Gorge and a finish in Bristol's historic Harbourside.
