The Bristol Sleep Out
Think that you ‘Sleep-Out’ for just one night in March if it meant you could help others avoid homelessness?
Spend only one short night under the stars at Temple Quay from 8pm to 8am and see what it is like to have no home.
Julian House is a homeless charity that provides more than 20 different projects across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset, Wilshire and Devon which help rough sleepers and people that would otherwise be homeless.
We are inviting our supporters to join us in Bristol to ditch the comfort of their own beds and spend just one night under the stars at Temple Quay to help raise funds that will benefit men and women who face homelessness.
By joining us in Bristol we will be twinning with the Julian House Big Bath Sleep Out, and together we hope Julian House will have our biggest ever sleep out yet spanning across two cities.
“No-one is under any illusion that spending one night sleeping at Temple Quay could possibly replicate what it is like to be homeless and on the streets. Of course it may be cold and uncomfortable, but after taking part in the Bristol Sleep Out you can go home, have a warm bath, a nice breakfast, chat to your family and friends about your experience or even catch up on the sleep you would have lost. But what if you don’t have a home to go back to?” begins Alexis Woodward from Julian House.
“By joining as and being part of our two cities sleep out you will be raising much needed sponsorship for Julian House which will benefit men and women that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will also be raising awareness about the hardship our clients face – realising that one night doesn’t come close to the stark reality of homelessness. The big difference for people who are forced to sleep rough is that they can’t see when they will next have a home to go to.” Ends Alexis.
Can you brave the Bristol Sleep Out on Friday 4th March? It is only one night after all. Families, friends, community groups and corporate teams are all encouraged to take part. No tent’s are allowed – just cardboard, plastic sheeting and as many warm clothes as possible. Under 16’s need to be accompanied by an adult and those between 16-18 need a signed consent form. Registration is free, all sleep out participants need to pre register though our website to participate.
Julian House provides supported accommodation in Bristol which prevents people becoming homeless. The charity’s social enterprises also provide work experience and training opportunities to these and other vulnerable individuals.
Your support will raise vital funds to help people who would otherwise be homeless – Your fundraising will help give local men and women a safe place to sleep and specialist support to rebuild their lives.
