Women's Autumn/Winter Beauty Trends '13

Blogger Emily Griffin covers this season's biggest beauty trends...Read and learn, ladies. Read and learn.

Red has taken over beauty for Autumn Winter 2013. Red lips and red nails were seen in the catwalks of New York to Milan.

Deep reds and berry stains were the most popular lip trend, with matching red nails and simple eyes. Pink is out this season, if you are not feeling the red hue then opt for a nude or soft berry stain.

Eyes are kept simple, with neat black liner and nude eye shadow. Brows are, once again, kept beautifully defended and skin is left looking soft and glowing with peachy natural blush. To stay on trend this season it really is go red or go home.

Lips

All you need to know to keep on trend this season is red. The forties inspired red lips were spied on both the Bottega Veneta and Oscar de la Renta shows. You can opt for matte, high gloss or a soft stain. It doesn’t matter how you wear your lips this season as long as you wear them red. Hybrid balm-stains are great for the cooler months when your lips get drier. Remember to use a complementary liner when wearing red lips, and keep them well moisturised. This will ensure your lips look sleek, sharp and avoid any colour bleed.

Nails

Red nails have made a huge comeback this season with bold, statement-red nails everywhere across the Autumn Winter shows. Tomato reds were prominent in both Chanel and Topshop Unique’s Autumn Winter collections, with more sophisticated ruby-reds seen at the Burberry show. There is no rule to what shade of red you opt for this season. If you don’t fancy red, the other trend evident this season is black. In either high shine or matte, black makes a great alternative to scarlet red – or,  if you can’t decide, a red-black shade like Chanel’s Rouge Noir could be your colour. If you want to take your nail trend that extra mile, opt for textured nail art to give a highly sophisticated look.

Chanel Rouge Noir £18 | Rimmel Black Cab £3.69 | Barry M Red Black £2.99 | Miss Sporty Fatal Black £1.99 | Collection Vixen Red £3.99 | Essie Aperitif £7.99 | OPI -OPI Red £12 | Revlon Red Carpet £7.99 | Models Own Red Alert £5.00 | Rimmel Central Love Heart £3.69
