Tips for Buying a Used Car
The Team at Minerva reveal their top tips for buying a used car.
There are many benefits to buying a used car, and for most people it’s the best way to get their hands on keys to that prestige or sports model they’ve always dreamed about owning.
By going down the used car route you can usually find yourself the proud owner of a car which is of a much higher spec, or more powerful than if you were to buy the same model brand new. Quite simply, you can get more wow factor for your money.
But of course, with so many options, unless you’ve already set your heart on a marque and model, the challenge is to identify the perfect car for your needs, and then to find an example which is in great condition and which has the most impressive range of features. So where do you start?
The first step is always to review your budget and set yourself an upper limit over which you won’t go. However, always remember to factor in running costs, including fuel, tax and insurance. Once you have, you can start the challenging, but fun, process of looking at different marques and models. It’s very often the case that people settle on a model they would never have expected.
Buying from a reputable car dealership gives you more legal protection under the Sale of Goods Act than if you buy from a private seller. This is especially important with prestige or sports models as the potential costs of repair if you were to buy a car with hidden problems can be substantial. And of course, a dealer will have a wide selection for you to inspect and test drive.
If you are looking for a range of quality used cars Minerva is a friendly, independent car dealership based on Box Road at the end of the Batheaston bypass on the outskirts of Bath. We have plenty of vehicles for you to peruse. We offer a great cup of coffee and we are always happy to arrange a test drive. Best to book your test drive in advance by calling us on 01225 850030 - Just ask for John or Mark.
