What are the UK’s Best-Selling Cars?

2021 has been a year like no other in the car industry. It has weathered unique challenges, from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to vehicle shortages spurred on by a global microchip shortage. But demand has remained sky-high, with the price of second-hand vehicles reaching record highs in the wake of supply issues. All markets have exhibited unpredictability in the last year or two, and the car market is no different – but it’s still possible to read the results of a tumultuous year, which reveal its best-selling vehicles amongst consumers. Now heading face on into 2022.

These five best-sellers top the list for a number of reasons, but the primary motivators for recent purchasing trends seem to have related to both cost and fuel efficiency – in part brought on by a growing cost-of-living crisis affecting fuel amongst other expenses. If you’re looking to get a new vehicle in today’s market, you’d be hard pressed to find better guide than the purchasing habits of your fellow motorists!

Ford Focus

Ford has attained an enviable level of brand recognition amongst manufacturers, and remains a strong choice of brand for drivers of all shapes and sizes. The Focus line of hatchbacks is hard to argue with, and just as easy for new drivers to get to grips with as seasoned motorists. They’re also just as customisable, with Ford Focus tyres available aftermarket to suit your aesthetic and needs, as well as a variety of vehicle specs available in showrooms and second-hand.

Mini Cooper

Mini is a cult classic brand, but its revitalisation of a classic vehicle has almost outstripped the original. Though the make exhibits an ever-expanding roster of vehicles of all different shapes and sizes, the Cooper is the original and best – an iconic design, with great functionality and a nippy size you cannot argue with. There’s also a fully electric model, enabling motorists to leave pricey petrol behind and join a new motoring era in style.

Kia Sportage

Kia have really come into their own in the last ten years, as an affordable yet high-quality brand that consistently knocks it out of the park. The Sportage is one of the UK’s most popular SUVs, on account of a number of factors: an interior with surprising utility, a glut of space and an inexpensive up-front outlay. Quite simply, those on the look-out for a family-friendly vehicle cannot go wrong.

Vauxhall Corsa

No list of popular cars would be complete without the inclusion of the Vauxhall Corsa. The diminutive hatchback has been a staple of UK roads for nearly 30 years, and for good reason. The Corsa is a reliable model through and through, perfect for urban environments but more than capable of power when you need it. More recent models are dressed to the nines in tech, and an electric model has blown away competition in an emerging market.
